Backup & Restore

Regular backups protect the customer, property, service, billing, and payment information stored in Billing Manager.

Where Billing Manager stores data

Billing Manager stores its working data under %LOCALAPPDATA%\BillingManager\. The default backup folder is %LOCALAPPDATA%\BillingManager\Backups. These locations are in your Windows local application data, not in Program Files.

Create a backup

Open File > Backup Database. The main sidebar also provides a Backup Database entry.

  1. Open File > Backup Database.
  2. Choose or confirm the backup destination if prompted.
  3. Create the backup.
  4. Confirm that the backup completes successfully.
  5. Store important backup copies somewhere safe.
Important: Create a backup before large customer imports, restoring another database, or significant software or data maintenance.

Restore a backup

Use File > Restore Database. Billing Manager validates the selected backup before replacing the active database and performs protective recovery or backup steps during the restore.

Warning: Restoring a backup replaces the currently active Billing Manager data with the selected backup state. Create a current backup first.
